    Default 1911-jam last round

Started working with NOE's version of the 200 gr. H&G 68 swc. Sized .452, OAL 1.250 with 4.2 bullseye. The commander will jam on the last round using Colt magazines. Not every time but needs attended to. Cleaned firearm and mags. I make a 225 gr rn that feeds flawlessly with same mags. Tried them after jams. Ruled out limp wrist. Suggestions appreciated and thanks in advance.

those Rounds work in different mags?

5-6 rounds feed fine when sitting on top of a another round?
Sounds like the follower on the mag has a different contour than what the case does.

Maybe its allowing the ass end of the last round to tip down too much or not enough?

Right on. Rounds worked well in different mags and previous rounds fed in all mags. The Colt springs felt "softer". Exchanged a spring and follower out of a working mag to the Colt's and all went well.
    Thanks.

Mark is right on. It's easier to find mags that work than it is to tune a gun to work with every mag. When you find mags that feed well and lock the slide on empty, those are the ones you stock up on.

note also that some mags lips are contoured better for different shaped projectiles

Looks like the spring runs out of push when there is just one round remaining. Slide face is going up and over the rim but grabbing the case and sending it forward and you wind up with that angled jam. Interesting example of magazine problem (or bullet configuration and how it affects the feeding using otherwise well-working lip design).
I like gunsnwater's suggestion...find mag that works, since it is so intermittent, and IrocGuns post above re differing feed lips. Great post!
