Tomorrow is the big day for the celebrity rodent. Any of you Pennsyltucky rubes going there to Gobbler's Knob to get in on all the new and novel fun this annual spectacle offers? The little bastard better see his shadow or not see it or whatever the frig it needs to do to ensure a shortened winter. It's been a pretty good mild and snow-free season so far and I don't want it jinxed.

We've been there twice. The crowd is great - families, wierdos, drunk college students.... I think people who take themselves too seriously are automatically driven away from a silly, contrived all-night event on the top of a windswept hill in the middle of winter to watch a bunch of hokey guys pull a rodent out of a cage. That's what makes it fun - it's so fucking stupid!

Wifey-poo and I picked up a bottle of cherry wine at a discounted price from Groundhog Winery, the newest winery to the area. No, the stuff is not made from fermented groundhogs.

Of course, I OCed the entire time there. Did anyone notice? Did anyone care? I have no idea. No old ladies fainted and no kids went screaming for their mommy.
I went to the Groundhog Day ceremony for 20 years running until a job change and health issues made it impractical to attend anymore. Have a great time.
