Non-Resident LTCF
So I finally got around to applying for my Non-Resident LTCF...after action report is as follows:
Went to the Levittown office, was greeted by a deputy that was pleasant enough. Handed him my completed application, my Military ID, Michigan DL, Michigan CPL, and a copy of the CPL. He asked why I wanted a LTCF, I explained that I travel through PA often and wanted it for peace of mind (in the event I ever get stopped in PA...or if reciprocity ever changes). He said I had to go to Doylestown, that Doylestown handles the Non-Residents. I told him I understood, and as I was gathering up my items from the counter he remarked that Doylestown would issue same day, whereas Levittown would need 10 days. I wasn't going to discuss further, so off I went.
I arrived to Doylestown and found my way to the Sheriff's office on B2. Civilian lady was very pleasant, not at all surprised by my Non-Resident status. I sat for about 30-40 minutes before they finally called me back for a quick photo and laminated my LTCF. While the license was printing the deputy asked how I was going to carry legally from my house to PA state line, I explained that PA has gun ranges and I would simply travel with it unloaded and locked in the rear. He started to talk about "that corrections officer" (i.e. Raymond Hughes), but I didn't really want to engage any further with the discussion. He was being professional and I had the impression he wasn't as familiar with NJ exemptions as he thought he was.
In the end, I donated $20 to the PA economy - plus another $15 if you include lunch with the kids.

Re: Non-Resident LTCF
I am confused.
You have a MI drivers license but your profile says you are in NJ.
What "state line" was being referenced in your conversation? Michigan to PA?
If you have been issued a PA LTCF, how is there any question about how you transport within PA?
What does the factoid that PA has shooting ranges have to do with all this?
How do the NJ exemptions fit into this.
I must be missing some part of the equation.
