Smart Lock.... Redefining gun safety
Saw this nifty video on Facebook... I know some of you old hardliners hate technology but it is interesting if you have a house full of kids

You should spend your money on it. That would be nifty.

Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Re: Smart Lock.... Redefining gun safety
I wonder if there's an app to test how long it takes a ten year old to hack it?
Huge fail to place your safety at the mercy of smart phone technology.
Not to mention the fact that the more of you who welcome this, the sooner it becomes a mandatory thing. I won't help that happen.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: Smart Lock.... Redefining gun safety
I try not to chime in on posts with just a +1 but this time Emptymag is right on the money. Don't give them any hint that gun owners support this or they will try to implement it whether it works or not or could easily be hacked (which I'm sure it could - there probably are people already trying to hack it).
If you have kids around the house and you have firearms, YOU TEACH THEM THE PROPER RESPECT OF GUNS and give them firearms orientation and training starting at a young age, don't rely on some electronic chip inside an inanimate object to make it safe from inquisitive hands.Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

Re: Smart Lock.... Redefining gun safety
My thoughts about it are the same as smart guns. As long as I am not forced to buy it, I'm all for tech that might help the more nervous potential first time gun buyers ease into the market (if they still practice all the normal safety precautions of course).
Personally though, I will continue storing my guns without individual locking devices, in my safe and on tragically sinking boats.

Guns and kids go together like alcohol and driving.
