Get a vehicle safe and mount it to the truck, either out of sight, or cover it with something(the safe).

If the homeowner isn't prohibited, I would have him hold the gun for safekeeping while on his property provided he has an LTCF.

It would be interesting to see what a lawyer has to say about this. If your a contractor, the property owner is your employer (sort of). It would be interesting to find out if the law about leaving a gun in your car on your employer's property applies here.
