Default Glock 19......brass to face. **Update with new ejector*

I've had this pistol for several years and last weekend I suddenly started getting pelted in the face and head by ejected casings. I estimate I have between two to three thousand rounds through it and I bought it new. It is a generation three. I took it home and disassembled the slide. As expected, there was a good deal of gunk under the extractor and in the plunger channel from when I used to over oil everything. I cleaned it all up and didn't rule out the possibility of limp writing due to some ongoing shoulder issues. I went out with it today, used an international stiff grip and had the same thing happen. Straight back they came, bouncing off head, my forehead and face. I wear prescription safety glasses for my job and use them for shooting too thank goodness.

Obviously, the remedy that comes to mind is replacing the extractor but am I missing something? Why would it start all of a sudden when the extractor has no visible signs of damage? Is there an upgrade or aftermarket part I should consider?

Thanks for any insight and for those of you that remember some of my posts, no, I don't think I broke another one but something is definitely afoul.

If it has the 336 marked ejector you may want to get the updated version.

    I'd check the ejector.
But given that you've shot several thousands rounds, I'd think about changing extractor spring..

Get the newer one along with a new extractor. It's been reported that the issue can start after a few thousand rnds.

I ordered the newer ejector this morning. It is numbered 30274. I could only find it by ordering the complete gen 4 9 mm trigger housing, part 30275, with ejector. No big deal as that is being shipped for eleven dollars. I didn't get a new extractor yet because I want to pinpoint the problem before replacing everything. If my wife didn't have me booked all day I would swap extractors with my Glock 17 and take it down to the range to see if that changes anything. I've also read about people using 40 caliber extractors. Luckily I have a model 22 and 27 to borrow from if needed. First I will wait for the enector and see if that cures it.

Last night I came to the forum first then started my research on the web. It surprised me to see how common this problem is with the much respected Glock model 19. Both gen 4 and 3. It seems in almost every thread where someone asks about a first handgun The Glock 19 comes up most. The whole "it goes bang every time you pull the trigger" thing is often mentioned. I guess what happens after that, regarding the brass, is another story. I'm not disrespecting the gun in anyway, it's in my waistband right now, but I was a little surprised when I searched Glock 19 brass to face.

I'll post updates when the ejector arrives and I get some shots downrange with it installed. Brian

If you have about 3000 rounds through the gun, it would be a good idea to replace the recoil spring. You could just order a spring kit and it will have a recoil spring and most of the others that you may need in the future.

It may be a matter of timing, if it isn't the way you are holding it. Didn't they have issues with the gen 4 double-spring and went back to a single? Just stirring the cobwebs...
have you tried letting someone else shoot it? How many kinds of ammo have you tried?

    Disregard...should have read opening posts...

Try changing your grip. Hold it in your left hand, gangsta style.
