Default UPDATE ON RENEWAL-Got my renewal notice with a strange instruction

I just received my renewal notice from Montco Sheriff's office. On the front of the post card, it has written, and I quote: "Do NOT, DO NOT!!!! BRING YOUR FIREARM/GUN TO THE COURTHOUSE". It is in big red letters.

I know that it is required for the court house to provide a storage facility for my pistol when I arrive. So, is this just a friendly suggestion? Like, when the guys at Men's Warehouse tell me, 'Do Not wear a brown belt with black shoes!' Or when my wife tells me, 'Don't make stupid jokes' before we got to a get together with her friends?

I wonder why they phrase the suggestion in a way that appears as if it is a command that is legally backed by force?

    UPDATE
I just renewed today at the courthouse. I walked up to the deputies at the door, told them I need to check a firearm. They pointed me to the lockers, and instructed me to put it in. I took out my Colt Commander and spare mag, put it in. When the deputy saw what it was, he said, 'Colt Forty-Five!' in a good natured tone. Renewal took roughly 30 minutes.

No problems retrieving the pistol---the deputies were accommodating and polite.

Get a copy of title 18 and reference sec 913. Take a copy with you and highlight the date that it was passed and the fact that they are to issue you a receipt for you weapon(s)

I've never been to the Montco courthouse but my guess is that either they don't have lockers, or they don't have enough lockers, so they aren't prepared to comply with the law and they would prefer that you not point that out to them by showing up with a firearm that requires checking.

I'm guessing the former. With the substantial uptick in LTCF licenses and renewals I bet they don't have enough lockers, and maybe not enough employees, to deal with the influx of handguns entering the courthouse on a daily basis.

Was the post card in an envelope or just a plain ole post card?

It wouldn't be a postcard if it was in an envelope, it would be a card in an envelope.

Leaving my pistol in my truck and being through the whole ordeal in less than 15mins means more to me than carrying it for the purpose of starting a bunch of shit arguing with the deputies , having to unload , check it , lock it up and taking even longer. I have never heard of a vehicle broken into parked in front of the court house. Not gonna get mugged between it and the door.

    Guess I'm not a patriot?
