    Default First AR build

Just finished my first AR build. Must admit it was much easier than I imagined.

Started off with an Anderson lower, generic lower parts kit, mil-spec buffer kit. Had issues with the bolt catch, poor machining and it was missing a bushing, so it was binding up. The trigger was giving me grief, trigger would fire, then fire again when released. Ended up replacing it with an ALG qms trigger. Topped it off with a CBC 5.56 16" upper and standard PSA full auto bcg and mil-spec charging handle. I put a redfield 3-9x40 scope I had laying around on it using medium rings. Took it out this evening for a test drive. It shot nice, no malfunctions. I need to put a higher set of rings on it to get a more comfortable cheek weld. I'm going to change out a few of the parts to better suit my needs. All in all, I'm very happy with it. I've got right around $550 invested so far, had I bought better components the first time around, I might have come in a little cheaper. Now I'm trying to find a reason why I don't need a suppressor and an upper in 300 blackout. I'll post a few more pictures once I get a chance.

Thanks. I'll be reading up on what I'll need to do to get the suppressor. It's funny, I had a Smith sport, the original with no forward assist and dust cover. I didn't care for it. I'm much happier with this one. Probably because I put it together myself.

Just figured I'd update this. I've since swapped out the trigger guard for a magpul moe unit for better ergonomics, swapped for some higher rings and changed out the stock and grip for MFT gear. A range trip is in order as soon as I get back from vacation.

Very nice. Any plans on getting some back up iron sights?

Youre def going to want to get the scope rings both on the upper. Other than that, very nice.

Yeah, I moved the rings back, and I'll probably end up changing them out again to a one piece mount that is a little higher still for more scope clearance. I wasn't going to add any irons, but if I did I was thinking of using the 45 degree offset irons.

Nice build. That looks like one of those Hera Arms cheese grater tubes. Trust me - you'll want some rail covers for that thing.
