    Default Detonics Pocket 9

Any thoughts or anyone own. I can pick one up pretty cheap and don't know enough about Detonics. I see prices all over the board. My thoughts are the pocket 9 is one of the later, cheaper versions, but wondering if they are still a good pistol.

They had a rep for breaking parts. Heavy spring, sharp corners, heavy in the pocket. If its really cheap I'd buy it. I like the odd balls so take that with a grain of salt. I never ran into one.

What do you call pretty cheap? G&W has pretty well hit the pertinent points. Do not confuse this with the Detonics 45s which are good guns, but not cheap.

Spare parts are unobtainium. Mags from Triple K, FWTW.

My issue with it is horrendous recoil.

Thanks guys. On the fence. It's $299 which is cheaper than I've seen them go for by $100-$200. The pocket 9 appears to be the least expensive in their old line.

I had one many years ago.
Recoil was brutal for such a heavy handgun.
I sold it relatively soon after buying it.

I recently came across this page while searching info on a Combat Master.
    http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2...onics-pocket-9
There is a video embedded in this page showing the author firing one.

I'd not recommend one unless someone collects pocket pistol oddities.

for 300 I'd add another 50 bucks and get a SW Shield unless you just want the Detonics as an addition to your gun collection.

Yeah, it was just a novelty thought, didn't have any detonics pistols. Thanks - so far I've passed.

    Look for a Combat Master.
