Default Need suggestions on 1911 grips. **Updated with new grips installed photo**

I want to put a new set of grips on my Kimber 1911 Eclipse. The pistol is a bright steel with black accents. I am worried that if I get a set with the thumb cut out it will not line up right with my hand. Think of Glock finger grooves for example. I have average to large hands so the thinnest set available is not necessarily a concern. What can the forum suggest? Thanks in advance, Brian

I posted pics of new grips in thread. Looking for honest opinions.

VZ slim grips are what you seek.

ETA: Nevermind, I can't read. I still recommend VZ grips, though.

Another vote for VZ's. Pick your flavor. Mine has always been slim line....

ironically, I have the same issue, with the same pistol.

    tried the stock....lacking something.

tried a pair of black g-10s....look like ass on it.

pried a pair of black pearls...look like a pimp from new Orleans.

I know it says "desert sand" but they really look more like black and light grey. They matched very well with my two-tone Springfield EMP.

It is a very hard pistol to find "the right" grips for indeed.

Hogue G-10 "G-mascus". I most highly recommend the "chainlink" pattern. Especially if you opt for the "magrip kit" like this
https://www.hogueinc.com/store/produ...-g-mascus/6672 The mainspring housing is replaced with a new one specifically matched to the grips. Both grips and mainspring housing are a little long and combined form the magwell, without looking like some huge after-market funnel.

You can't go wrong with VZ's. Here's a few of mine, left to right:

    1) 4) VZ Aliens - black, came with the pistol when purchased from a local gunsmith.

    2) 3) VZ Aliens - green, go Irish!

    3) 2) CNC aluminum from Valkyrie Dynamics , nice and light with a great fit, not too grippy, but always collecting dirt!

    4) VZ Operator 2's, bought used from the forum & custom fitted to a Mk III 22/45. Nice, thumb groove isn't bad or good, but way too sticky and sharp, even for my farm hands, and to sand the points down.

The aliens are my favorite all around grip aside from Hogue rubber panels on my EDC. Just the right size, shape, and stick, without catching on clothing and wearing holes in shirts. Get some color, it doesn't look bad!

EDIT: if you want to shoot any or try them on your piece, swing across the river and we'll put some lead down range!
