i just stumbled across this thread. Yeah, i wondered for years what that was until someone informed me. I actually find it more interesting that its the former reserve center. Thats cool. We always went up to Ebensburg, but that was the late 90's.

And to Streaker. Altoona is turning into a medical town. They are knocking down a lot of those old shit buildings and putting up new medical facilities. The town is starting turn around. It was getting pretty shitty there for a while.

What makes the place stand out is the FE8 fencing. This is DOD Unified Facilities Criteria (construction code) for fence with double outriggers and concertina coil at the top. This is not typical for a reserve armory. A typical armory would rate 6" mesh (chain link) with one 45 degree outrigger containing three strands barb wire. Somewhere a contracting officer exceeded a justified need or they do have some interesting stuff inside.

The FE8 wasn't there when it was a reserve center. That was installed when the facility reopened in its present incarnation, ~6, 8, 10 yrs ago?
