Default Polishing the slide and barrel on G27

I just purchased a used G27 in excellent condition. I have a G36 that I bought used, I thought the slide and barrel were polished but now I am guessing they were Nickel Boron. I polished my G27 barrel last night and was planning on polishing the slide tonight. Anyone out there do this to a Glock slide? If so are you happy with it? I would only be doing the exterior of the slide but just be doing the barrel it seems t be a little smoother.

By polishing the slide you are removing the protective coating, which on recent Glocks is a hard, durable nitride. It provides corrosion resistance and it is lubricious, and it one of the reasons that Glocks have the reputation for running "dry."

IMO and experience, used Glocks with polished slides are worth less, often much less, than an un-f__ked-with identical model used Glock. Tag prices are indeed lower, and the messed-with guns are typically purchased by buyers who buy on price only and can't resist what they consider "a good deal."

Personally, when I'm looking for a "new" used toy and it's been refinished or polished, or stippled, or otherwise f__ked up, I don't give it more than a glance.

Because I ask myself, to what other abuse has the former owner(s) subjected that weapon?

But it's your gun, your property.

Understood. I am doing this solely for the look. Believe me I know that sounds shallow but, I am also not looking at it from a value standpoint, I was considering Cherokote to get the same look? I am not looking to sell it but...
I was considering purchasing a police trade if this winds up looking as I hope and possibly dressing up the police trade for resale. I'm sure that has been attempted in the past?

Well, if that's the look you want, you sure have a good one!

I did the barrel only on a model 27 after the finish started to wear off at the usual spots. I was happy with the look but I stored the gun for a while and found out the barrel was the only part that showed signs of moisture damage. Not bad but it's there. I will not be doing this to future guns.

I'd go hard chrome over stripping the tenifer finish if it were me.

I think it looks kinda cool with the mirror finish but there is no way I would use that pistol for concealed carry. That is unless your a pimp! lol

Ok here it is. I finished it last night, new sights. I did not polish it all the way, just kind of a gun meal look.
