Default Any Pittsburgh area shops with A1680 in stock?

Been calling around trying to find some to work up a 300 BLK load with DucatiRon's coated bullets. I have some H110 that worked okay, but wouldn't cycle the action. My online research points to 1680 being the go-to for subs. I only want to get a pound to try out, so I don't want to order online. It seems that most shops don't stock Accurate, and even the few that do don't have 1680.

    Thanks!

It's very tough and is the de facto powder for 300 subs. If you find it but more than a pound.

Western Powders seem to be hard to come by in SWPA, I've resorted to ordering A1680 online.

You can also look for H4198. We have had good success with that powder also. Load data is on our webpage.

A1680 was a very limited use powder pretty much designed for the origanal Wisper caliber of bullets. As far as I know it dosent cross over to many other uses. Which in turn leaves it to low stock levels any many shops.

Ron - were you able to get H4198 to cycle an AR at subsonic velocity? If so, that's good to know.

Yes, A1680 seems rare as hens' teeth. I called every shop I know within an hour drive. Finally stopped in at the Rifle Men on Golden Mile Hwy yesterday and talked to George. He said he orders powder and primers every Monday and has them by Wednesday. He's going to order me a pound. If anyone's looking for hard to find powder, try there.

No issues with 4198. Have made a few thousand rounds with it now. Also if your willing to travel Dennys Sport Shop in Hubbard, Ohio buys powder factory direct. I buy most of my powder through him.

Good to know. I think my dad might have some 4198, I'll have to ask him. Thanks, Ron.

A lot of powders work. It's just a1680 is the powder wth saami spec and all that. So there is a ton of data for it.

glad you could get some BTW how much are they selling it for? Another alternative is Reloader 7 about same burn rate as 4198

$25.xx. $22 was the price I saw online, but with $28.50 for haz-mat, I thought $25 was more than fair.
