    Default BP – Revolver Loads

Many years ago I owned A BP Revolver. Back then I shot only Black Powder and round balls. I ordered the Pietta New Army 44. I also ordered a lee conical 450-200 mold.
Now for the powder, which have you had better luck with. Pyrodex –P or Triple 7-3F. Thanks

I'm probably not your huckleberry here. I'm still using black powder, mainly Goex FFF for anything 19th century in handguns. I've tried Pyrodex P and Triple 7 and I'd rather clean with soap and water afterwards than deal with these so called substitutes.

What problem did you have with the BP substitutes? I have memories of a Black Hand from the old BP revolver and though the Sub, would be a much cleaner option. Thanks

    Dear Hornady,

Problems- Well with Pyrodex P it was that it is very hard to ignite, nearly as corrosive as straight black powder and left a residue in the barrel that gave very hard to remove fouling.

With Triple 7, it had the same corrosion issues, and maybe memory if wrong, but I seem to remember having inconsistent ignition and velocity (very erratic performance).

I was hoping to only have one can of BP on hand, I also Shoot a TC Renegade, I use 4F –BP in it, Sounds like the 3F - BP may be a better option for the Pistol.
    Thanks
