    Default question on recent purchase

    I've recently purchased Winchester Model 94AE 30-30.
Judging by the serial number, I'm guestimating its produced either late 89 or early 90.
Its model without cross bolt safety or tang safety.

Which is not a big deal, since I believe lever gun should always utilize hammer half cock, only that in my 94AE, there isn't any.
Did early 94AE came without half cocked hammer safety?

Don't know. Mine is a top eject from 1964.
Does it have a button under the lever that won't allow a trigger pull unless you squeeze the lever, or is was that feature replaced?

Mine is from about 92/93. It utilizes a rebounding hammer instead of the half cock notch. It accomplishes the same thing, keeping the hammer from contacting the firing pin until cocked.

Yes, I just got done taking it apart, and I now see how rebounding hammer/trigger assembly works(and don't bother taking them apart unless you have good reason for doing so. It was PITA to put it back together...), and how it basically does what half notch does without half notch.
Actually, what it does is that it blocks the hammer from contacting the firing pin unless trigger is pressed(kind like how Sig P series pistol hammer does).
Does same thing, just slightly differently.
