    Default Two over-looked handguns.

Two of the most over-looked revolvers out there are the .327 magnum and the H&R .32 magnum. These are two very good guns for carry or home defense. I can't figure out why they are not so popular?

Because ammo costs considerably more than much better cartridges.

Agree with raxar. Couple price with availability. (And actually those two factors affect each other!). If the .327 and .32 mag were as available as .38 special and .357, and similarly priced, then the additional capacity and more manageable recoil, along with the potential for greater accuracy would really inflate their popularity. (Popularity brings availability and lower prices; availability and lower price brings popularity, etc.)

The only place I can find .327 Mag is Cabelas and price is typically $30/box.

It's not a caliber that is in high demand so most dealers don't stock anything in .327 mag. Since they don't have it on the shelf to look, at sales are almost non existent. Since sales are low ammo isn't commonly stocked. It's a tough cycle to break. The only way to increase interest is for a dealer to front money on stock that is not going to turn over quickly. It's a high risk/low reward combination which is a no-go zone in the sales industry.

When the movie with the right stuff extols their virtues like Dirty Harry did for the .44M you won't be able to find one.

I have both and reload both. It's the best way to get ammo. You can get a .327 and shoot .32 Long, .32 mag and .327 in it. It's a nice work-up for people that have never shot a hand gun and fear the kick of a handgun.

I have an SP101 in 327 and I love it. Had a trigger job done on it and it's a sweet, accurate shooter. I put 32 long wad cutter in it for shooting paper and it's fun all day long. The 327's come screamin' out of there with some oomph, which is equally fun!
