I just pm myself to solve that problem.

I have this happen. The system sends you an email telling you "hey, X just tried to PM you, but your inbox is full."

Yup, and that works as long as the user in question didn't sign up with a temporary email address, like some have been known to do.

All these suggestions are great, however in your user settings you can turn off getting emails from anyone about anything, you can turn off all notifications (pop-ups) too.

It's possible to turn off getting PM's as well, not sure what message you'd get if you tried to send a PM to someone with the feature turned off.
