Pest Squirrels on private property
I rent a house on a few acres far away from the communities of Pike county. I have a squirrel problem at my house with the little bastards burrowing under the house, chewing on insulation and wires and destroying bird feeders. My question is, Is there any specific PA law that bars me from taking these tree rats out with my bow or an air rifle outside of the hunting season? I tried to search around to find out about this but came up empty handed. I just don't want a hippy neighbor to possibly call it in that I am culling their population on my property and lose my hunting license.

If I recall correctly, pest removal is pest removal not hunting.

I wasn't able to find anything that says you CAN legally kill them, but I only searched for a few minutes. I did see where they are specifically listed as game animals. So, unless you can find something that says you CAN kill them out of season, I wouldn't advise it.

Kill em, properly discard the bodies by making squirrel stew, no evidence.

Re: Pest Squirrels on private property
To be honest, this is what I would do normally and I wouldn't give it a second thought but I have only been here for a few months and I have one neighbor who looks like a weirdo yuppy so I was hesitant. Her house is the only house that is somewhat near mine but she could definitely see me going out to retrieve the little bastard after I smoked him. Think I might shop around for a solid cat but I don't want the cat jacking up the birds. As soon as small game opens up, it is on.

Re: Pest Squirrels on private property
Some people I hear use those Havahart traps, put some bait in them and then when the squirrel pest gets stuck in the trap they dunk it in a barrel of water and drown them. Nice and quiet.
No problem with squirrels here but I have a philosophy that anything inside the inner perimeter of the house or in the house is dead meat. I'm happy for them to have the forest and as long as they stay there all is good.
