Reading mayor says metal detectors are coming to City Hall
Can he do this? As far as I know that building does not have any court rooms.

Mayor Wally Scott told City Council Monday he's planning to install metal detector gates at City Hall's two main entrances.
"As you know, the world is changing," Scott said.
He said the Santander Arena is buying metal detector gates for its own use, and the city has asked to piggy-back on the arena's purchase - which might cost the city $3,000 per gate.
The city plans to buy three detectors: one for the Eighth Street entrance, one for the Washington Street entrance, and a third one as a spare and to float to whichever entrance is expected to get more people.
"We'll still need someone to operate them," Scott said.
After the session, Scott said he'd like to get the metal detector gates in operation as soon as possible.
Council members voiced no objections to the proposal.
Councilwoman Donna Reed said: "It's high time. We should have done it years ago."
Council had asked for better City Hall security several times over the past decade, although there have been no credible specific threats.
The Berks County Courthouse and the Services Center have had metal detector gates for decades. - See more at: http://www.readingeagle.com/news/art....0sDePNqX.dpuf

I don't like the Satander one, I rely on being safe downtown.

I googled the address quick and didn't see any prohibited places there.

Re: Reading mayor says metal detectors are coming to City Hall
I was thinking about this thread and it got me wondering about lockers being made available at city hall. Then I saw this thread where Hburg had detectors put in.

Re: Reading mayor says metal detectors are coming to City Hall
Wasn't there a strange case recently in which a judge declared that a public building is actually private property so guns can be banned? If not, I could be thinking of something from my last trip to Earth 2.
