added someone to my ignore list
but i'm still seeing their posts. Did I miss something or is the point to not see their posts once you ignore them?

IIRC you'll still see their posts when quoted by someone but should not see their posts otherwise. Of course if it's me that you ignored you won't see this unless someone else quotes it.
