Default Ruger 22/45 Lite Field Stripe, WTH

I read a lot of complaints about field stripping a 22/45 Lite, but damn after experiencing it I almost want to give up and return the damn thing. The frame to slide fit is so damn tight it took about 30 minutes to get the pin back through. I'm guessing some of you guys might have a trick or two to field stripping these pistols, any suggestions?

And here's an excuse to post a picture on my nearly acquired 22/45:

Having the skills to put a 22/45 or anything MK style pistol from Ruger back together is one of those things that every man should master... sort of like changing a flat tire or building a fire...

Here is a video from Yuri Orlov...

    It's been a while since I stripped my wife's.

They really don't need much cleaning, at all. So it's not a big deal. A boresnake here and there is all you need.

When I did though I followed a simple YouTube tutorial. Had no issues with that resource in front of me.

I have to review a video every time i clean mine. A friend of mine took his to a gunsmith because he did "something" to it when reassembling.
Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

I have a handful of this style of guns and I shoot them all so I don't shoot one enough to necessitate a cleaning lol.

Get rid of that damn thing and get a S&W 22 Victory, there is no reason for a pistol to be that difficult to take down and reassemble just to clean it, and as for everyone should be able to master something like that, BULLSHIT.

I really do like my Mk III 22/45 (non-lite, threaded barrel, Volquartsen trigger). That said, if I decide I need another .22 pistol, it will be the Victory I buy next. The trigger on it is almost as nice as my aftermarket one, and that's out of the box.

I was out at the gun store today hoping to see a Victory but they had none in the 3 stores I have checked. However one had a great deal on the 22/45, it was silver not green so I am guessing last years model. I loved the feel of the gun but held off because I heard stripping it was such a pain. Can you really get away with just a boresnake and that's it?

Yes. People clean guns too much.

When light strikes start up eventually, clear the firing pin channel out with a pick. Unless you are shooting a brick or more weekly you probably still don't need to really take it down though.

thanks, that makes me think running back down to pick one up will be a great idea.
