Ruger Security Six question
I recently acquired a Security Six with a scope mounted on it. I have no need for the scope, but the rear sight did not come with the revolver. I'd like to put a rear sight on it.
Numrich lists two types for the gun, one of which is described as "With bump". Any Ruger experts out there know the difference? Which one do I need?
A nice old revolver, and my first Ruger.
Thanks,

Re: Ruger Security Six question
Phil: Check out eBay, there are several rear sights listed, but none that specify the SS - however, the seller is a Ruger specialist and syas to contact him with any questions. Certainly worth a shot.

Re: Ruger Security Six question
Another option would be to contact Xringshooter on this sight. He's a ruger collector and would probably know the answer.

Re: Ruger Security Six question
Just looked at mine and they all seem to have the same type but not sure what they are called. I would just contact Ruger with your serial number for the answer.

Re: Ruger Security Six question
If you were considering calling, don't rely on Numrich to give the correct answer.
I needed a firing pin for a Winchester and their online part description had conflicting info saying it was for both a pre-64 and post-64 in different parts of the item description.
I called - they told me it was for either. I ordered. It wasn't the right one.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: Ruger Security Six question
The Security Six should have the "bump" on the bottom front of the rear sight. It will also have a hole in it for the pin that secures it to the frame.
On the Numrich site the 1st and 3rd are standard with and without the white outline rear sight blade. The 2nd and 4th could aftermarket sights because I don't recall that Ruger had any Security Six rear sights with the eagle on the front portion of the sight. However, Ruger did have this style (with the eagle) on some of their Single action guns (Blackhawks, etc.) so they very well could be factory Rugers but they weren't put on the Security Six when it was built. Any of them should work for your Security Six but if you want ones that match the original, get the ones without the eagle.Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

Re: Ruger Security Six question
Excellent! Thanks, Xringshooter. Exactly the answer I was looking for.
As I said, I'm new to Rugers. Considering the extensive inventory at Numrich, it's unlikely I'd be able to talk to someone who could give me the definitive answer. I've run into this problem with S&W parts.
Again, thank-you.
