    No thanks.

Good luck though if you bid!

I've only paid 5%, but that's with a personal check.

You're right about the math though - in addition to the hammer price, be sure to add in any buyer's premium, shipping, etc.

If anybody is looking for a .44 Rem Mag Marlin, there's one going off tomorrow (Sat, April 1, 2017 - NO FOOLING!) at Horst Auctions in Ephrata, PA. FWIW, no buyer's premium. While the listing says "Marlin", you may want to check if there's a "JM" stamp on the left rear of the barrel just before the receiver - means it was made before Remington acquired Marlin - which would be really a great find in this condition.

What's a reasonable price? If you can get it for $650 or less and it has the "JM" stamp, you'll never have buyer's remorse....

    Marlin Model 1894.jpg

Auction Item 244: "Marlin Model 1894. Serial #MR15188F. .44 Rem. Magnum caliber lever action rifle. 20" barrel with an excellent bore. 10 shot tubular magazine. Hammer block safety. Sling swivel studs. The finish on the metal is in excellent condition and no wear. The checkered walnut stock and forearm are in excellent condition showing no wear. The gun is new in the box and unfired. Includes the original box, the instructions, and a gun lock."

The Marlin's are a hoot to shoot for you can reload light plinkers that you can shoot all day long or the full magilla that will be sure to remind you of the capabilities (and recoil) of this caliber. For those of you concerned about recoil in a .44 Rem Mag, this rifle will shoot the heaviest of safe loads without a burp - lots of firepower in this package. Put a 4x Leupold scope on this and you're gonna re-define your definition of fun at the range...

    Here's their web site: http://horstauction.com/upcoming.htm...0%26nojava%3D0

And here's a pdf file of everything going off (scroll down to page 31 for this listing - auction item #244): http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/sh...1&type=at&in=1

We already have two (one for me and one for the missus) - so sadly, we don't need a third...

I can tell you right now if you're going to Horst's to get a deal you're wasting your time.

Not necessarily so! It depends on the crowd and what is offered and often when it is offered, most times later is better, but sometimes the first few go cheaper than expected as folks are getting used to the sale.

They also have about 2700 other premier (think - EXPENSIVE) items....many of which you will never see except in a museum.

Here's the searchable link for all auction items: https://www.rockislandauction.com/catalog/70/

Have fun perusing the auction items...
