We all started with 1 or 2 you fit right in. Do you carry in condition 0?
Let's not forget there are still species of tropical penguins living in the Galapagos.

Condition "0" is one in the chamber, hammer back and a full mag. For many of us it means ready to receive a bullet in the leg. Condition "1" is the same as above with the safety on. For those that refuse to practice and become proficient it means, ready to receive a bullet in the chest. Carry in condition "1" and PRACTICE.

    Welcome!

By the way Tom, all the condition 1 & 0 info is usually in reference to 1911 pistols.

Hmmm... So I'm wondering if what I carry is considered condition #2? Chambered, full mag but hammer down. I can draw the hammer while unholstering just as easy as flipping a safety.

That's not recommended, especially with a 70 series 1911. A sharp blow to the hammer in that style of gun can easily set off a round, since there is no firing pin block. That aside there's a real risk of AD if your thumb slips during the draw stroke. It's generally accepted (and for good reason) thay condition 1 or condition 3 are the ways to most safely carry the 1911.

Would it make it any better if I said it was a browning hi-power and not a 1911? :-)

Hello, everyone. I suppose I should start with a bit about myself. My name is Tom, I live in Scranton, and I'm a firearms enthusiast- though, unfortunately, I can't legally own any at the moment, due to the fact that I'm 17. I will be the first to admit that there's a lot I don't know, and I hope to learn here. Beyond that, everybody have a great day.

Ok back in my day I carried several different hand guns working for military. If that's what you are referring to when you say condition 0 and condition 1 then I did both. Do you guys talk about non gun related things here?
