Most tourists come to see historical areas like sycamore shoals where the over the mountain men mustered and then proceeded to kick the redcoats back to England. We have some campers and hikers but no real tourism. NC line is near enough to see, as is VA. I too like the mountains and due to circumstances (my health and my moms failing health) sold my mountain land and moved to the little city. I would be happy to give you info on how to do east tn western NC on the cheap (but clean etc) ~ Have a blessed day guys

Hi Berncly, I appreciate the invitation! It's been a long time since I've been to a gun competition (turkey shoot etc) ie for me its an excuse to get out and associate with like minds? I love such 'social events', and I will definitely give the forum a heads up if I head that way. Btw a reciprocal invitation to any member coming this way. I am about 112 miles east of Knoxville, right in the pointy tip of TN. I will be happy to show the best places for gun fun and outdoors stuff where the crowd is sparse. My health isn't the best so I many not be able to accompany, so bring a partner or three.

Ha ha...If I understand you yes I am! Its funny how geographical location can alter the meaning of words etc. Here in the bible belt if someone speaks about the dragon (or serpent for that matter) its in reference to Satan ! At least if speaking to an older mountain person. Here in the more isolated valley's and hollers' its easy to see vestiges of the old ways of living, from farm tools to architecture of buildings* to colloquialized' speech. I like to get lost in those kinds of places which are becoming less and less in number.

*(like the steeply gabled roofs so snow will slide off, well we once had great snowfalls)
