The Delaware river
I am going camping on a private campground on the Delaware. Can I Carry while on the delaware river( Fishing, Boating, etc...) I am not taking about the Campground rules I am wondering about it being state park or national Park or something like that which would prevent me from carrying. Also, if I can carry and am in a boat, how do I know I cross into NJ?

Re: The Delaware river
IIRC, the river is mutually able to be policed by both Pa. and Jersey. Where are you going? DWG is a National Recreation Area, not a State park. Getting caught on the river could be bad.....

Re: The Delaware river
I wouldn't do it. What if your boat tips & you have to swim to the NJ side??
You would not be able to take the boat to the NJ side if you were carrying.
I think it would inhibit your fun on the water.
I don't know the legal details of where PA ends & NJ begins. I think the area near the water gap is a national forest. I can't say for sure.
We should have an OC event on the PA side of the river within sight of NJ. I would even OC for that one.

I don't own a GPS but they may show political boundaries, not sure.
I do know that if you get USGS topo maps of the county/counties you will be in, they do show the political boundaries. I have purchased them from a local book store. Maybe some of the local(where your going) fishing shops will have them or they may be able to tell you where the boundary runs.
As for the camp ground, if you have the name check it out on the internet. Either private or public they may list their rules or a phone number.
Rules for carry are different for State parks, Forests, DNC areas. There may be some water shed areas that are Reservations(?). Make sure where you are and what the rules are there.
Good luck and good fishing !

Also, be sure you don't get caught with even one HP bullet by a NJ LEO!
As I understand it possession (excluding AT or in DIRECT transit between a range or store and your home) of even one HP bullet (not with a gun, not even a complete cartridge) is chargeable as a felony. So check you pockets too!

Re: The Delaware river
Lots of qualifiers:
If not on federal land, or not on state or private land posted "no firearms", or on the PA side of the river (usually western mid point), you should be OK. NJ and Pa enforcement is shore to shore for fishing and boating, but if you are on the PA "side", you should be OK. Just to be safe, do not have hollowpoints in the firearm or on your person.
NJ tried to say that ANY boating certificate issed by PA, because we have an internet test site, was invalid in NJ. It appears the the Coast Guard told them that this position violated federal law, and they were told to cease and desist.
It appears any state can implement laws as to when you must have boating training (certificate) for any age and any type watercraft, but every states certificate is valid in any other state (just like a drivers licence).
Does this help?

Re: The Delaware river
OK, it sounds like I can take my gun camping, provided, of course ,the Camground does not have a no gun policy but, leave it in my Camper ( locked up) if I get into the river?

That sounds like a good plan
