Re: FBI under investigation over oregon shooting
Sorry folks... there was absolutely no need for the use of deadly force. Judge, Jury and Executioner come to mind. All that happened today was a typical "white wash". Shot in the back, really? While Finicum may have been an "asshole" or "idiot", he did not deserve to die in the snow like that ... DESPITE what he may have said. It is time that this country take a good look at how it police's its citizenry. The methods, tactics, mindset need to be rethought. My question is how did any of those individuals know that Finicum had gun in his pocket? How did they know he was reaching for a weapon? If anyone of us would have done the same thing because we thought someone in this situation was about to hurt us... we would be locked up!!! Never did anyone show that a gun was presented for use by Finicum. He was shot in the back because someone "thought" he might do something. These cowboy tactics need to stop. At the end of the day.. they could have let this 54 year old guy just run away and track him down instead of gunning him down. all IMHO.

Re: FBI under investigation over oregon shooting
Let’s break it down for the Finicum fan-boys because it’s apparently necessary. No one should go through life so uninformed.
Finicum, along with many others involved in the standoff had arrest warrants pending service against them. The stop was an attempt to serve those warrants. Regardless of the belief that you’re right or your rejection of the authority of anyone but the sheriff, a warrant for your arrest isn’t something that can be refused. That’s what Finicum did. He acted as if he had a choice as to whether he would be arrested at that time and place—he didn’t. His only viable option was to be arrested and have his day in court.
In a deeply disturbing act, he risks not only his life but the lives of everyone in that truck and law enforcement officers fleeing an arrest at high speed. Did he actually believe the police would simply let him drive 50 miles down the road for a meeting because being arrested was inconvenient?
He comes to a roadblock. He doesn’t stop; he tries to drive around it to continue his criminal flight to avoid apprehension. Fortunately, the snow stopped his flight. He then exits the truck and repeatedly ignored commands to get on the ground. He keeps reaching for an inside pocket—where a gun was concealed—and is shot due that act.
Those of you defending his actions are so far off base in your reasoning that’s it makes me sad to think your brains actually function that way. He was a criminal. He was a criminal that stated he wasn’t going to be taken alive. He was a criminal that threatened the lives of multiple people in his desire to avoid arrest. In case you missed it—HE WAS A CRIMINAL.
Your protestations to the contrary are wrong. No, it’s not an opinion that we can disagree on. You are wrong. If you behave in the same manner, you will likely die as well. Anyone behaving in the same manner is quite likely to die. There is no “well this” or “well that” that will make your wrongness suddenly right. You’re wrong and you’ve been told you’re wrong by everyone with any expertise in the field. If you wish to neg rep me because it hurts to be wrong and you find it cathartic, go right ahead. You’ll still be wrong.Last edited by unclejumbo; March 8th, 2016 at 11:43 PM.
