Default Do you really need a custom holster?

I am looking for a holster for my newly acquired Polish Makarov(P-64). It is a PPK clone and virtually identical dimensionally. I see a lot of nice holsters that are not specifically made for this gun but I think they would fit. What do I have to watch for other than length?

I slightly altered a Remora holster for a PPK that fits the P64 like a glove. I think any soft material holster for a PPK should do the job. Kydex won't fly since the retention points are different.

I guess what it comes down to is this.

Someone may say that theirs fits in X and another says theirs fits into Y. You choose Y and it doesn't fit. Then you choose X and it doesn't fit. So you just spent money on two holsters when you could have spent money on one that was specifically made for it.

I also like Remora holsters, especially the Remora Tuckable.

My suggestion to you is to take it, in a case, unloaded, to Insight Firearms over in Jeffersonville.
Ask them to help find a holster for it.
They have a big selection of holsters and are very good with fitting them. I can't remember the lady's name that works there, but she knows holsters.

I agree, there is that risk. At the same time I don't feel like paying upwards of $75 for a holster. There is a very nice one on eBay but it is coming from Russia. Not sure I want to give them my cc number, or any number.
