For about two hours I was fiddling with my Dillon 550b trying to get it to feed primers correctly. Flipping, not feeding, etc.

So after lots of cursing and nearing meltdown, I decide in a last ditch effort to take the primer feed system apart.

What do I find? The primer magazine is the large one. MOTHER F*CKER. This whole damn time I had the wrong tube in.

Well, the problem has been remedied and 250+ trouble free rounds loaded using S&B primers to boot. No issues!

Just remember, the obvious solution is often the right one.

Try Color coding you sets with colored electrical tape. large primers red and small blue. Mark your boxes of primers the same way. Hope that Helps!

I had a similar problem with my xl650. After a couple times taking the entire press apart,
I can rebuild it, fix it, change out caliber conversions in minutes. Its actually a very basic design.
It just looks intimidating. Stick with it, you'll master it in no time.

Quite true! And this kind of education (the one where you get dirt under your fingernails) doesn't require student loans the size of a mortgage only twenty years ago...

Also recommend labels. I use painters tape that comes off easily. They're placed on the exterior of the machine. Can't trust my memory after an extended period. I can walk in and at a glance know how it's set up. This includes label on powder measure (powder and charge weight it was last set for) and machine head (caliber and bullet) finally abbreviation of type of primer on tube. With that I still confirm settings prior to loading. If you're an idiot for your snafu I'm a downright imbecile for a couple of the stunts I've pulled.

I put my hand priming tool together with the large primer drive when I prime 357 mag all the time. I still use the right primers, then about halfway through, I wonder why I'm having so much trouble. I must subconsciously think 357 mag uses large primers.
