Default Will Del.Co. Sheriff Send Out LTCF Renewal Reminder?

    Hey Guys,

I'm checking in after too long of an absence. Just screening through some recent posts I do see some familiar faces though. Glad to see so many are still here.

Anyway, I just had a quick question: will my local Delaware County sheriff send out LTCF renewal reminders when I'm getting close to my LTCF expiration? I know they used to a few years ago but wondering if they still do. Depending on the current politics I can see how it may be beneficial to some sheriffs offices or counties to "forget" to send them out in hopes they expire.

    Thanks for any information!

I got mine about 2 weeks before it expired. Clerk said they would "rush" it because it was so close. Took a week. Good Luck.

I believe it's state law to send renewal notices. That's a part of the $20 fee. If you don't receive one, then something doesn't smell right in Delco.

Part of the few (a dollar and change) is set aside under the law to fund renewal reminders.

Anyone not mailing them out is not only breaking the law, they are misappropriating goverment funds.

Not only are they legally required to send you a renewal reminder, at least 60 days prior to the expiration of the license, but also an application for renewal (same app. though for new or renewal).

    To the OP:

Are you seriously going to wait for a government entity to tell YOU when YOUR license is about to expire, without taking personal responsibility for keeping track on your own? I have PA, UT and AZ, all of which have 2 more years on them. Not only do I occasionally look at them, along with my DL, I have reminders already added to my digital calendars 90 days in advance for all of them.

I'd certainly like to see any sheriff who doesn't send the reminders face charges as appropriate, but staying legal (as much as I hate the process) is MY responsibility and no one else's.

Sgt.K, you are quite right. I did just add the expiration date to my iPhone calendar and set the alert last night. Just hope it carries over when I get a new iPhone next year. I must admit, I knew it had been a few years since I got it and couldn't remember if it was a 5 or 4 year license. This all happened before I took on the endeavor of digging it out of my overly stuffed wallet lol. So it made me think, just as an extra safety measure do they still send them out. I know have it sorted now that I'm not due to expire until 2018.
