How much is the PICS fee currently?

Re: Just a sanity check...
Technically $3 per check plus another $2 per firearm, so the total for a one-gun purchase or transfer is $5.

Re: Just a sanity check...
Thank you, that's what I thought. I just bought one firearm from my LGS and ordered another. They charged me 10 bucks for each one. A friend bought 2 guns there recently as well. The first was toward the end of last year and it was 5. He bought a lower there 2 weeks ago and it was 10.
The NICS check is still free, right?Last edited by kcb38; February 17th, 2016 at 07:32 PM.

Re: Just a sanity check...
I have to correct my previous statement. My friend bought one gun at one store this summer and the pics fee was 5. He bought the lower at my lgs a couple weeks ago and it was 10. So it seems its just my store that's charging more

Re: Just a sanity check...
Hire any knucklehead to do any damn thing for the 20 minutes it takes to do a PICS check. (average)
Now pay to keep them behind a counter for 8 hours a day waiting for your bony ass to wander in and transfer a gun.
Your 20 minutes of activity is gonna cost the retail establishment owner at least $40.00, prolly closer to $60.00.
Hopefully said knucklehead can sell some ammo or even a gun with enough markup to cover costs.
But it's rare unless the establishment is busy.
I dunno how the brick n mortar places do it.American by BIRTH, Infidel by CHOICE

I believe that $3+2 is what the dealer pays to the state. What they charge you for their time is up to them.
