Hunting Camp from 2016 Hunting Plan thread
Instead of loading up the hunting plan thread with pictures of where we plan to hunt out of, I decided to post a thread specific to the camp and progress we make in updating it.
It came furnished with 4 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, a kitchen, dining room and bathroom.
Here is a pic I took in 1982 which was the first year both my buddy and I hunted together there ( I started hunting there about 5 years earlier).
I don't have a current pic but an addition was added at some point after that.
First and foremost, we had to stay caffeinated to perform any and all upgrades. Since it was furnished, quite a few items were left including the 2 old style drip coffee makers, a couple Mr. Coffees, a regular aluminum perker, and a couple kettles
Kitchen.
Bathroom. We were used to a 6 gallon water heater in my trailer.
One living room.
Other living room.
Dining area with oil furnace space heater.
Have to go get a bathroom faucet now.
Will continue after some more work.Last edited by 27hand; February 17th, 2016 at 11:27 PM. Reason: new picture

Looks like a great start. Gotta get some gun racks and taxidermy mounts on the walls though.

We do in fact like our coffee. Ha. Most of those were left by the previous owners wife after he passed.
Its a small lot and only extends about 50 to 60 feet past the building.
3 houses around him are permanent homes so security is good.
Thre is a rack of really small spikes, maybe a 3 point and a small 6 point left behind.

Nice, just up past the saw mill on 666, I know exactly where it's at and know the area pretty well.

Re: Hunting Camp from 2016 Hunting Plan thread
ar.
It was funny that I was describing where the place was to a buddy I used to work with.
He pulls out his phone and showed me the listing. Pic and all.
They left some of the monster racks on the wall. Had the shooters name on them. Hope the bucks are bigger now.
Picked up a faucet for the bathroom.
I should have a pressure balanced shower diverter in my garage from jobs gone by.
I think I'll repipe the water in Uponor Pex. Pipe and fittings are cheap and they expand if frozen without breaking.
The expander tool is about 500 bucks though so I was looking on ebay and online.
I called our school coordinator to see if we had one there.
He said no but is buying one. Another instructor said we should have one. as this pipe is being used more on commercial work.
Couple bedrooms.
Cool beans.Last edited by 27hand; February 16th, 2016 at 09:54 PM.

Re: Hunting Camp from 2016 Hunting Plan thread
Ok, second trip up. We had no water so hauled containers of water from the spring at Queen creek for flushing, washing dishes ( heating on stove) etc.
I cut out all the CPVC pipe.
And replaced with 3/4" copper tube.
Instead of the PVC drain valves on the unsupported water lines, I made an interconnect between the hot and cold whereby I could open it during draindown and it all flowed to the water pit outside.
I replaced both faucets, the basket strainer on the kitchen sink, removed any old soft copper tube and temporarily reconnected the main supply to the new pipe with a sharkbite fitting.
I will remove the vertical galvanized pipe used for an outside hose bibb, will remove the gas cocks someone installed as water valves and replace all that crap with a 3 way valve so we wont have to open the water pit to activate and drain the house.
Next trip will be to repipe that pit ( I'll leave the ball valve on the left side but install a new 3/4 " check valve and a 3 way activation valve, install a frostproof hose bibb, remove the regular water heater drain and install a 3/4" full port ball valve piped to a drain and drink lots of coffee.
I will eventually repipe the 1/2" CPVC supply with 3/4" PEX, heat traced and insulated inside a 2" conduit which will ensure it will never freeze while we are staying there during deer season.Last edited by 27hand; February 21st, 2016 at 09:38 PM.
