Re: Hunting Camp from 2016 Hunting Plan thread
Beats the hell out of my everyday car too but it is an 08 with 54K on it.
I was looking for a Ranger sized with 4WD and 4 doors. The 10's and 11's are close to 20K. Damn.
I'm just glad to get back into a truck. Last full size for me was an 01 Ram which had problems.
I forgot how big those things are till I was backing it out of the dealers lot.Opinions are like anal apertures. They all stink but mine.

Re: Hunting Camp from 2016 Hunting Plan thread
Thanks Grump.
My daughter's moving to Ashville NC. So it'll help there.
It's set up for electric brakes tow package so a larger trailer shouldn't matter.
Getting marginally back on topic, my buddy is up there installing doors for the bedrooms without.
I'm going to fabricate a 2 piece deer hanging pole using an old 3/8" plate, a piece of 4" pipe welded to it. A flange to bolt the 2 pieces together and an 8 foot piece of 3" pipe with a horizontal piece with a couple eyebolts on it.
Just keeping busy. HaOpinions are like anal apertures. They all stink but mine.

Moved my oldest son from Georgetown,SC to Mississippi for work in January so you have my sympathies.
Look forward to pictures of the deer hanging pole when finished and installed.
( Hopefully with one hanging on it. )Μολὼν λαβέ

Had 2 huge trees come down during a storm week and a half ago.
The blocked Queen road.
Township cleared it but but now we need to cut it up.
Will be heading up Tuesday with chainsaw.
One is close to 30 inch diameter. Other a bit smaller.
Gotta get another chain n nat
Wonder if photobucket will let me post pics. HaLast edited by 27hand; July 26th, 2017 at 10:10 PM.

Look into this stuff if it hasn't been fixed yet. These panels can be installed over the existing roof. Lowes sells them IDK how much roof you have, however if you can DIY its cheaper than reframing the roof. They are supposed to be Hurricane proof.

Re: Hunting Camp from 2016 Hunting Plan thread
We got one of the trees out of the drainage trench.
About 33 inch diameter at the base.
We cut pieces off, allowed them to fall into the trench, positioned them as stands to allow undercuts and ended up cutting what was left in half.
We used the same 9 foot long angles we used to support the.oil tank to make ramps up the side of the embankment.
I took about 40 feet of shackled together nylon slings, went over the top of the trunk and under, attaching it to a 12 inch limb.
Hooked up the truck in 4 wheel and rolled it up and out of the trench.
Cool beans that it worked.
If I figure out how to copy a link I Flickr, I'll post it.
We cut apart the upper section into 3 pieces and drug them out with the truck as well.
Ruined 2 sets of clothes with pine sap and 2 20 inch chains need resharpened. I hit metal in.one tree and went through into dirt on the orher.
Much more fun than plumbing.

For the first time, I saw 3 doe on his property. A doe with a couple younguns.
Maybe down the road when I'm old and feeble, I'll be able to open the window and take a shot.Last edited by 27hand; December 2nd, 2019 at 08:43 PM.

Daycrawler,
I went to HD to look more closely at this Ondura and was concerned that the slope changes would be problematic but after reviewing the installation guide, it seems pretty easy to transition to different slopes.
Getting back to the trees, My buddy didn't say the township backhoe and loggers showed up so I assume it'll be done when nothing else is going on.
I did put together a pictogram movie of stills on youtube.

Re: Hunting Camp from 2016 Hunting Plan thread
Will do.some of his roof is about 2 /12.
They say to use wider flashing at valleys and double overlap of sheets at anything less the 3/12.
HD guy says you might get 8 feet long sheets through the professional desk. Ill.check.
I gave the info to my buddy but I'll be drawing up and detail measuring the square footage next trip.Opinions are like anal apertures. They all stink but mine.
