Default Classic Pistol: Concealed Carry Firearms Permit Class March 4th

I was checking out their website for the first time in a while and found this. I would guess this is for a Florida non-res permit?

Concealed Carry Firearms Permit Class March 4th

Classic Pistol will be offering a class that will allow you to obtain a carry permit for 28 STATES!!! This class will be 3 hours in length and instructed by a NRA Certified Firearms Instructor. Active duty & retired military and those with previous firearms training (e.g., NRA, HUNTERS SAFETY) need just do the paperwork.

Paperwork fee of $45.00 includes: application, fingerprinting, notary, and passport photo. Complete class including all paperwork and range fee is only $85.00. A certificate is provided following successful completion of the 3 hour class.

Sunday March 4th 9:00AM-1:00PM. The class starts at 9:00 sharp, and the class may end later than 1:00.

    These people run it... http://www.personaldefensesolutions.net/

I took the class when they had it in Yeadon. They show you how to fill out all the paper work, take your photo, fingerprint you, etc. They make the process really easy. It's worth the money. They give you some handouts on deadly force and then go over to the range and have you show them you know how to fire your gun.

Sounds like it's no good to me. I didn't buy my handgun yet.

I'm sure you can rent one at CP. However, if you haven't fired ANY gun yet, you should wait, since there's a (mild) proficiency test.

It's a take 5 shots at the target and see if you hit at 7 meters. If you tell them you haven't shot before, they take you out first and administer training then the test.

Sure, but if you've never even fired a gun, then maybe a little practice is in order before spending money on a class and then maybe having to pay for, and retake, the class all over again. It's entirely possible to miss at 21 feet the very first time out.

If the class is in March, a few trips to the range first should do the trick.

I have rifles, just no handgun of my own. I've shot several handguns and have used the range at Classic Pistol many times. I've also been to Wicen's up in Furlong as well.

Out of curiosity, then why a need for a FLA CCW if you don't even own a handgun? Wouldn't having a pistol and then a PA permit be a good precursor?
