Only specifically authorized police may carry firearms; the government in Britain depends on the goodwill of its subjects (note, they are not citizens) to stop their criminal behavior when told to do so by an officer. Note, as well, how this is working out for them.

This reminds me of when I worked as Armed Nuclear Secrity, We had a Brit come over to see how We did things here in the state and he said that it's funny how they have protestors jump the fence and they couldn't use lethal force to stop them and that Us Americans would have put 2 in the cheast and one in the head by the time there feet hit the ground.. It's a whole different world over there....

I didnt want to start another thread so here's a link to an article I just wrote and published on my blog about the London Riots and the the result of total civilian disarmament and heavily outnumbered police in the kind of world the Anti Gunners wish for us here in the States.

    http://www.thateverymanbearmed.com/2...-you-have.html

Text below, but there are links and videos embedded in the article that would be tedious to copy over to this post, it's late, Im beat and I have to get up for work at 6AM, so the text of the article can be found here, but to see the relevant videos, you'll have to follow the link to my blog. PLEASE, if you are so inclined, and you agree with my observations, feel free to share this with any fence sitters or reachable Anti's you know, it might just wake some of them up !

The Gun Banners vision of Utpoian Society AKA So this is what happens when you have total citizen disarmament and inadequate, ineffective police

Anyone that wants a nightmarish glimpse into the future of a disarmed America if the gun grabbers arent stopped in their tracks need look no further then the anarchy currently overwhelming authorities in and around London.

What we are now all bearing witness to in London is the direct result of total citizen disarmament, a govt with a well established history of discouraging and actively prosecuting innocent victims that dare to defend themselves from criminal attack, a disaffected populace and a heavily out numbered police force.

A quick check of Amazon UK shows baseball bats, collapsible batons, entrenching tools and other implements that are designed for or can be improvised into bludgeoning weapons for self defense have jumped THOUSANDS of percentage points in sales over the last 24 hours.

Americans would be immensely foolish to actually believe that we arent perilously close to witnessing the chaos in London being duplicated here on our shores. All the requisite ingredients are present, teetering on the brink of an all but inevitable economic collapse, disaffected youth that cant or refuse to obtain gainful employment and harbor in intense sense of entitlement and an equally intense lack of morals, or sense of personal responsibility, a heavily outnumbered police force, ( counting ALL members of Law Enforcement at the local, State, and Federal level there is roughly ONE LEO in America for every 1700 Citizens ) and certain municipalities and even States where Mandatory Victimhood is the policy of the government is the rule ( Chicago and NJ readily come to mind).

Put another way, the tinder is bone dry and the sparks are swirling around in a frenzy.

As I said on Sunday during my appearance on The Unsolicited Opinion , the line between civil society and anarchy is razor thin. We've seen this type of thing before, albeit not on the scale of London. Have we so quickly forgotten what happened 48 hours after Katrina hit New Orleans ? It was literally every man/woman for himself, and it was those citizens that were armed and able to defend themselves from the roving bands of thugs that rapidly emerged with the absence of Law Enforcement that were able to prevent becoming victims, that is until the Govt swooped in and forcefully disarmed them !

We've also seen what happens when utter lawlessness, roving bands of rabid thugs and outnumbered police create the perfect storm of anarchy and the immediate need for self defense with a firearm in the LA Riots in the aftermath of the Rodney King verdict.

The Korean owned stores that were defended by their owners with firearms were the ONLY ones in the area that weren't completely looted bare and eventually burnt to their foundations.

If we are wise enough to take heed, we in the US have a unique opportunity to simultaneously learn from our own past experiences with anarchy and effective self defense when the authorities lose control or retreat to protect their own families and get a glimpse into our likely future as we witness whats going on in London as this is written.

The question then becomes, will Americans finally have the courage and intestinal fortitude to stand up to the liars and authoritarians in the various gun grabbing groups, their acolytes in Congress and their enablers in the media and finally take a firm stand against ANY further restriction on Second Amendment rights ?

Ask yourself this question. How much is your life or the lives of your loved ones worth ? Can you afford the price of being victimized ? Paid for with your silence ? And possibly your blood ?

It's a pity what is going on in London and now the major UK cities generally - saw this in France last summer but wasn't covered as prominently in the US MSM for whatever reason - but the fact of the matter is that long ago they made their bed, now they must lie in it.

I don't think the extent of similar rioting here would cause as extensive damage to buildings or people, because Americans are armed - and much more commonly and much more heavily in the general populace than since the LA riots occurred awhile ago. In the blue states and cities, especially in the already crime ridden and terribly vulnerable cities like Chicago and Baltimore, the effects would be bad, but still not as bad as the UK where not even the regular police carry firearms per their peculiar and unwise custom.

This may be a silly question, but how old are you, OP? It's common knowledge that most police in the UK have nothing but what they call a "truncheon."

I think I'll take this as a cue to buy more ammo and magazines, and maybe build an AK and get mags and ammo for it for family members living closer to population centers.
