At first, Ron Luckenbill thought it was a scam. It had to be some sort of practical joke, right?

A gunsmith for 50 years and owner of gun-making company Recreating History, Luckenbill was presented with the opportunity of a lifetime when he was approached to build a weapon for the movie ‘Revenant.’ The film, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, is an adaptation of author Michael Punke’s book, ‘The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge.’ The book and film are based (if somewhat loosely) on the true story of fur trapper Hugh Glass, who made a living in the American West of the early 19th century.

“It’s not every day that we get called to do a gun for a movie,” Luckenbill said. “My wife took the initial call and she was very skeptical when she got it.”
