Years ago Volquartsen used to make a custom .45 ACP Luger.
..I even have an older Volquartsen that I will make you a deal on!

I'll put in another vote for the Browning Buckmark. First gun I bought myself years ago and it's still going strong. Accurate and fun to shoot.

I must also put in a HUGE plug for the CZ Kadet kit. Get a nice used CZ 75 and buy a Kadet kit for it. I have a kit that fits several of my CZ's and not only is it extremely accurate, the gun is a full size, full weight gun in your hands that soaks up recoil and you can make accurate, rapid shots. The best 22 I own is my Kadet kit.

I would look for a used Ruger Mark I or II. I don't care for the lawyer features on the Mark III. If you want new, Buckmark all the way.
For the rifle, Ruger 10/22. Standard for general use or the Target model for serious paper punching. The Marlin 60 is a good option for a semi .22 that is also very kind on the wallet.

Browning Buckmark, decent one for $350.
