Re: Why America is a Republic, not a Democracy
It would seem that you don't realize there are different ways of implementing a republic. A democracy is simply one such way of doing so.
A form of govt vs system of governing.

Re: Why America is a Republic, not a Democracy
They are most definitely NOT the same thing...
These two forms of government: Democracy and Republic, are not only dissimilar but antithetical, reflecting the sharp contrast between (a) The Majority Unlimited, in a Democracy, lacking any legal safeguard of the rights of The Individual and The Minority, and (b) The Majority Limited, in a Republic under a written Constitution safeguarding the rights of The Individual and The Minority; as we shall now see.

Re: Why America is a Republic, not a Democracy
The SCOTUS started off as the weakest branch, and I think it is safe to say it has become the strongest. Regardless, it is the responsibility of the people to manage it, or shrug it off. It's a simple truth. If the people of the middle east would actively shrug off ISIS, we wouldn't have a reason to be involved. We shouldn't strive to be like them. We can't count on someone else to take care of our problems.

The Supreme Court might do better if it was required to decide like a jury....all agreeing or no decision.

Re: Why America is a Republic, not a Democracy
As long as government agencies have unchecked regulatory power, as long as our courts continue to legislate from the bench, as long as the POTUS has the power of the phone and the pen, as long as both political parties serve to advance the liberal/ progressive agenda, and as long as the Department of Homeland Security and the Justice Department are more afraid of Americans than of Criminal Illegal Aliens and Islamic Terrorists, our system of government is severely broken and needs fixed.
