Wink thinking of buying land for a range ...

    hi folks!

i'm contemplating buying some land in this neck of the woods solely for the purpose of exercising my God-given rights. at all hours of the day.

i'm thinking of picking up a few acres (or more) to set up a range.

ideally, i'd like a 1,000 yard range (long gun) with a 50 yard short range (pistol) set up next to it. and if i'm really ambitious ... well, never mind.

any thoughts on what this might entail and set me back?

i figure this would be a better use of land than having some Noo Yawker come in and waste it.

You are going to want a bit more than a few acres. But check with any municipality in which you find the land. Confirm that an outdoor personal range is permitted on that parcel and if there are any "noise" ordinances. Otherwise, you may have neighbors a little upset with you (read: "not in my backyard"). You may want to consider getting a lot with a trailer on it to stay overnight in, just be prepared for mice . You are probably going to be best off looking in a very rural area of the state - less regulations.

    Good luck to you!

Probably cheaper and easier to find Club with what your looking for ... land prices been up and local/state regs can be a hurdle.
Locals cry about noise in my area and have been able to shut down State Range at Nockomixon Park and also a couple club ranges.

I shoot on my own property with no hassles so far ... but the day's not far off till some Dick with Ears starts cryin' too much noise.

If you really do want to purchase with what you have in mind, I'd stay to the Northern Tier of Counties ... lower density.
