cumberland county public library weapons ban
Went to the library today (clive j frederickson in camp hill) and there is now a notice on the door banning firearms and edged weapons.
As a public library can they do this? I know there was a lot of talk about public parks and how their bans were removed. I assumed this applied to public libraries as well.

Re: cumberland county public library weapons ban
I'd say that's a pre-emption violation.

IMO, the firearms ban is a preemption violation. There is nothing to bind them from regulating "edged weapons."

I wish it was fiction...unfortunately it seems the public library is not immune from 2A infringement.

Re: cumberland county public library weapons ban
The Bucks County Free Library and Government Annex in Levittown, PA has the same signs taped on the glass doors as you entered the buildings. So some fellow 2A patriots contacted the county commissioners and the managers at both sites. There were presented with copies of 6119 & 6120. The commissioners had no idea about the signs and managers did not know this was a violation.
Short story ending - all signs were taken down and everyone was educated.

Re: cumberland county public library weapons ban
I would think that it depends on how the library is organized. The Andrew Carnegie Free Library in Carnegie is a private organization so they can make any rules that they want.

Erie. The library can't pass any laws. This is not a law. Do the math.
