define nice. you want cheapish, yet amazingly cool? mosin nagant 91/30 is tough to beat. can usually be found rather inexpensively, and, in a pinch, makes a hell of a blunt object.

if you go that route, the surplus ammo is corrosive, so keep that in mind.

semi auto, reasonable, the sks is a lot of fun.

and, the oaks gun show coming up will probably be stocked with a crapload of surplus.

I mostly what it for a fun day at the range and brings me to another question is there any one's that you can get ammo pretty redly available anywhere.

Both the Mosin and the SKS ammo is plentiful and should continue to be so for the foreseeable future.

I agree with jakebrake and markshere2, and will add Mauser as another option. Hit up the next Oaks gun show and look around. The last one I went to Mosins, SKSs and Mausers were everywhere so the prices competitive. I'm a bit fussy about my milsurps so I look for matching numbers, as well as muzzle, bore and throat quality (no safe queens for me. If it don't go bang, it ain't a gun), and still found great deals on all three of the aforementioned milsurps at gun shows in SEPA.

Mosins are good for the price but surplus is corrosive and non-corrosive is not cheap. If your looking for a good shooting range gun at reasonable prices with non-corrosive ammo at reasonable prices Non-Matching Mausers can't be beat. I just so happen to have 3 I just listed for sale from $250-350 in the classifieds.
