AP .50 BMG ammo penetration?

My house is a computer junk yard. I have tons of old hard drives that haven't been used in years. While I'm sitting here stewing about the Bohica FAR-50 upper that I haven't received yet, I got to wondering, roughly how many hard drives would a armor piercing .50 BMG round likely go through, if shot out of a 30" barrel at 100 yards?

I've got about 7 hard drives right now. I was about to throw them out, but I'm thinking about keeping them now.

I'll definitely get a video of it when I do it. Oh course this is all dependent on me receiving my upper sometime before Barrack Hussein Obama is appointed Supreme Leader and bans them all.

7 hard drives.... Hmmm That AP 50BMG would go through all of them, flip you the finger and then still go through half inch steel plate.

indeed those hard drives would not even halt the round a bit...might shed the jacket, but that core is gonna go.

I have a fully intact core that went thru 3 pieces of 1" thick boiler plate, and looks like it just came off the lathe.

I put a mild steel core ball round thru a 6" thick piece of of laminated armor glass.

real armor glass, not the lexan stuff ya see in banks.

I've shot 50AP and API thru some amazing things.

I say you shoot something more worthy OP. Like a cast iron engine block.

That's what I would do if I had a .50 cal.

The case on hard disk drives is made of aluminum. The platters are pretty hard, but they shatter easily. I would say that you would need MANY HDDs to stop any bullet - much less an AP 50.

My guess is that you'd need a stack of hard drives about three feet thick to stop an AP .50BMG round.
