Re: 10 AM Beer drinking at the Leesport Gun show......
Well, apparently not at 10:00 am.
It's the 10:00 am that caught my attention.
Several years ago I left my membership expire at a sportsmen's club with a shooting range because their interest appeared to be more centered around the bar and alcohol consumption than guns & safety. The time of day had absolutely nothing to do with it. I didn't know what time the club opened the bar, and I didn't care.
It's a nice facility, close to home and very convenient, the members I met were all very friendly and easy to get along with, but the shooting part of the club's existence took a distant second place to the desire to have a "social club" where the members could "relax & have a drink". I've heard that the Pa.GC has declined their offers to host the hunter safety courses because they were unwilling to close the bar for a few hours on the days the hunter safety course was being held.
I can't substantiate or verify that but I certainly do believe it because of my previous observations and the credibility of those I've heard it from.
I have no problem with responsible consumption of alcohol, but responsible and reasonable do have their limits, and the time of day in relation to the rest of the daily schedule is not necessarily a direct reflection on responsible or reasonable decisions.Last edited by mauser; January 19th, 2016 at 06:18 PM.

Re: 10 AM Beer drinking at the Leesport Gun show......
I can see that but we are not talking about the same thing. Who is shooting at the gun show? The guns are empty, zip tied and sitting on the table. Some are even under glass. Funny thing I was actually there. Was too busy checking the guns and buying. Now, if the guy whom I was buying from was drunk and had slurred speech I might feel differently.

If I recall it was the ladies or the vendors carry gun and they were trying it in a holster. They knew it was loaded, were cold sober and effed up. The mistake was trying out a holster with a carry gun

You don't have to argue with me, I believe we're on the same side of the issue, I was merely responding to a comment someone else made about drinking at a gun club before or while shooting, and that is indeed a different situation. That's a situation that I wasn't comfortable with so I left. The situation the OP mentioned wouldn't bother me a bit.

Re: 10 AM Beer drinking at the Leesport Gun show......
And an expensive date.
Back to the OP, that's nothing. I was at a range in Schuylkill County. On Sunday, 0700, there was already a Skook there. I'm talking about a hard, pipe-hitting Skook. I could barely understand what he said, he sounded half Canadian and half Chicagoan. I wasn't even sure he was a US Citizen at first. He was pounding Black Labels (who knew that stuff was still around?) and shooting handgun, 0700 on a Sunday. He offered us beer so at least he was polite.Last edited by ungawa; January 20th, 2016 at 02:49 PM.

Getting loaded in the a.m.is awesome, but should never be mixed with firearms under any circumstances.
