Barrel nut anti seize greese.
I will be installing an ALG tube and barrel nut soon. The directions say to coat the threads and shims in anti seize greese. The only thing I currently have is Tetra gun greese. Will this suffice? If not what exactly should I use and where can I get it? Thanks.

Hardware store or auto store should have anti seize, don't use grease. I use it a lot in industry and on my car maintenance, good stuff.
Should only need a very little dab.

I use aeroshell on the barrel, barrel nut, and the castle nut.

Avoid anything with graphite, aeroshell is probably your best choice.

Antiseize will work as will pretty much any grease. A lithium complex grease is one of the most popular greases and it is what I use.

As evident by the silverish gray smears all over my work table, rifle and clothes I went with the Permatex. You guys weren't kidding when you said a little bit goes a long way!

Yeah it has a high amount of very fine solids in it. I have found the copper antiseize is a little easier to wipe of surfaces.

Re: Barrel nut anti seize greese.
The silver gray stuff is "leafed" aluminum; Al powder that was rolled in a ball mill to make the somewhat spherical particles flat like plates. It coats things easier, particularly fastener threads, which Al powder would tend to "lock." The copper anti sieze is leafed copper powder. Both contain 5% to 10% graphite, 15% to 25% calcium oxide (quicklime), and most of the rest is mineral oil and solvents.
