Default dumb question on bullet grain

So, I took my new TNW 45 acp pistol out today for the first time. I started with some 230 grain fmj and it jammed every time. The spent round ejected fine, but the new round would get hung up. I was bummed and about to give up when I remembered I had some different ammo with me. I had an old box of UZI 185 grain hollow points. I loaded those, and no issues at all ! So, my ignorance, would the lower grain bullet be something that this gun just likes - i.e. finicky ammo gun, or would that not make the difference and it might have been something else ? I emailed the company to see if they could shed any light. Thanks!

It is probably the ogive of the bullet, not so much the weight, if it is a feeding problem.

There are lots of guns that do not like truncated profiles, some that do not like flatnose, some that do not like hollow points.

Yeah, that's why I was surprised that it would not cycle standard fmj ball but had no issues with hollow points. Didn't know if weight might have something to do with it ? Guess I'll keep trying and see what manufacturer has to say. Thanks!

Takes Glock 21 mags - as far as I know, that's the only mag that will fit. I'll keep trying different ammo until I hear back from them. Thanks!

It's a NEW gun-stiff springs and may be tight. Give it a good lube and break it in with at least 200 rounds and then worry about it.
After that, the magazine is most likely the problem.

Could it be the higher velocity of the lighter bullet produces more gas on ignition?

Thanks. I'm sure it will take some break in - was just baffled that the fmj jammed every time and the hp fired every time ? Going to keep breaking her in
