Default New Year at the Giant Center - Bears Game

Perhaps due to recent attacks or it being New Year's Eve, Giant Center had walk through metal detectors tonight. Had to empty pockets....

Same here for a game last week. I had to empty pockets but they never looked in my wife's purse which is big enough to hide an Abrams tank.

In the past nothing, I carried into the Giant Center many times for all kinds of events. A few days after the Paris terrorist attacks, I went to a Bears game with my son. They said on their website that they were going to start wanding and they did.

Hershey Medical Center was still lit up like a French flag that night...it was fresh, but I guess it's permanent now. Shame. As you can see from my April post where I walked right on...it definitely changed.

No mention of them on website when I looked before. They recommended you take it back to your car.

edit - Just looked again...no mention AND their policy is getting even more wussified:

"Weapons of any kind are prohibited. Weapons are considered to be any item that could endanger public safety. Some examples include; firearms, knives, mace, and chains. Hershey Entertainment and Resorts reserves the right to refuse the entry of any item that could be considered a weapon."

I swear, when they were giving out brains these people must have heard 'rain' and gone for an umbrella...

*My 5'0" 72-year-old mother has been using Canadian (forearm, below the elbow) crutches since she was 9. You try to take one or both from her you can expect excruciating pain in your knees when that 3-foot length of aluminum/titanium hits them from the side (I personally watched her drop a burly 6'2" ex-con when I was a teen), bringing you down to her level, then a goodly-sized lump or two to the side(s) of your noggin if you don't back down.

I guess I'll never go there. I want to keep my hands and feet. And other parts of my body.

Weapons found at a Hershey Bears game:

Hockey pucks they give out at games
    Plasticware from the food concessions
Lighted wands they overcharge our kids for
Giant pencils they sell in the team store
