Default Preemption violation: Looking for members near Prospect Park/Delaware county

    The meeting is scheduled for:

    10/14/08 @ 7:30pm

The address to borough hall is:
    720 Maryland Avenue
    Prospect Park, PA 19076

As mentioned in later posts, I cannot make the meeting next month so someone has to make sure they a voice recorder and some fliers to pass out!

Here's a link for ALL the documents you need to bring with you to the meeting scheduled for 10/14...you shouldn't need the prepared speech document, but it doesn't hurt to have a copy (When looking at the .pdf file, the specific ruling we're wanting to be changed is on page 2, letter K....The .pdf is inside the .zip archive):

Either post here or call me direct if you have any questions,

    Thanks,
    Andrew

Bump and moved to Concealed/Open Carry forum for more visibility.

Some from further may travel to attend, and this thread is directly related to the ability to carry a firearm in Prospect Park parks.

Where in Prospect Park? What's the issue you want to discuss? I would be up for it. I want to get more involved in the community since I have been here for 5 years and am just fed up with the crap ordinances in the area.

I'll let Andrew fill in the details on exactly where, but the issue is a rule (backed by an ordinance) prohibiting firearms in their parks. I already have a prepared statement completed. We just need someone who is comfortable enough with public speaking to present it to the borough council. Extra bodies to show support are, of course, welcome.

The park sign with the illegal laws regarding firearms was found at Moorse Lake (spelling?) aka the hollow on 13th Avenue I believe.

There is a borough meeting this Tuesday @ 730pm at borough hall on Maryland Avenue, which is where we can bring up this issue....

As Greg said...I've got a prepared statement that can be read to the council that nails the details on the head.

I'm going to try and make it tomorrow. Can you PM me some info on what our points are? Also are we planning to OC or is that not allowed at the council meeting? I don't know enough about the policies. How do I get there from Taylor Hospital?

Just to be clear - "our" attendance doesn't include me because of the travel distance and my work schedule. If you PM me with your direct email, I can send you the "statement", which we still need someone to actually stand up and read to the council. Otherwise, there won't be much point in attending.

Unless the borough offices are in a court facility (which I highly doubt), there is no state prohibition on carrying there. I have no knowledge of any local policy, regardless of the fact that it too would violate preemption.

As always, the decision on if and how you carry is yours.

Follow this link to the directions you requested.

Ady, I have a copy of the letter here also, if Greg doesn't send you 1. I'm probably going to carry in my pocket or have my shirt covering my piece because I haven't taken the plunge 100% into the OC world....

The council meeting is inside the borough hall, which is next to the Prospect Park police station and I'm not sure of their gun policies inside the building....

As far as getting there, if you want to meet me @ the CVS across from Taylor Hospital, you can follow behind me to the meeting.

Ady-PM sent, BTW...please, give me a call tonight or tomorrow sometime!

The next meeting is the first or second week of September. I will be there who else can join us? The more we have there the better. If we can help to set the precident who knows what will become of this. Stop bitching about loosing our rights and stand up for them.
