AK PROBLEMS/HELP PLEASE

Hi everyone, any help will be greatly appreciated..

Long story short, I recieved my ati handgaurd ( upper and lower) in the mail today and decided to put it on..

Anyway after some struggling and using pliers to put on the upper ( gastube ) handgaurd, I cannot push the gas tube lever back down all the way.. I used pliers and forced it down however this caused the tube to misalign and the tube to dislodge unevenly..

Does or can anyone help, did anyone ever have this problem ??

I used the pliers and made some marks into the metal, but was cognizant of this fact while using them and didnt want to apply to much pressure... Should I get a file and refile it down some ??

Again, any help is greatly appreciated..

Yeah, this si driving me insane... Its really pissing me off that I cant get this tube back on properly, I have been messing with it since 12 this afternoon, I am about to go INSANE !! LOL

But seriously though, any HELP would be greatly appreciated.... ANYONE ??? please ??

please do not file on that lever

focus on the lower handguard....the gas tube part should just rotate and snap into place.

use a file and some sand paper and work on the fore end of the ATI stock kit

if you fit the lower handguard you should keep an eye on the part of the handguard that is trying to fit under the bottom of the reciever. Check this with the rifle mag well UP.

file on that tab thats trying to go into the slot where the wood handguard used to be.

once it goes on freely with no pressure you should now be able to lock the gas tube tab down.

I wish I could help you out. I know your pain. I put together a ar-15 a while back with my father and it was supposed to take 2 hours. Weeks later we were on the range. There are a lot of web sites that give you step by step that might help you out. Search ak kits and I' m sure you'll find something helpful.

Thanks.. I think you misunderstood though...

I have the parts on, and they are snug...

Problem is I cant get the tube to re engadge..

When I said I would file, it wasnt the lever I was talking about, It was the end of the tuge That I was holding with pliers to turn the handgaurd 180 dgrees and I put a few marks on it, that is what I am thinking threw of the alignment.. The only way Im getting that Upper piece back of is to Hack saw it in HALF .. Which I really dont wanna do..

Thanks, I have already tried that route... I am gonna go get the file and try that.. I dont think I have any other option at this point..

Thank You also.. I have tried those instructions online, the pack came with the exact same pic and lousy instructions..

I must have slightly bent the inside of the tube or something...

I am upset over this.. I am actually searcing for another gas tube and cannot find the tube alone.. Any help there ???
