Re: "Deer" season is NOT over!
I just looked at the weather forecast, and the 26th looks like 80% rain. Wet days are not muzzy days.

Re: "Deer" season is NOT over!
I was just given a flintlock. 50 Cal CVA Hawken.
I took it to the range to get comfortable with the process of loading and firing it. It was a blast! I only shot 3 times at 50 yards. My windage is dead on but my elevation needs some work. I think the flash is throwing me off. The gun has a cracked stock so I limited the rounds I shot, a repair was attempted by the previous owner but I'm not sure it took. I ordered a new stock and it should be here tomorrow. The stock is unfinished. I might swap everything over to make sure it all fits properly and do some extensive range time on Christmas eve as I have off. If all goes well and I feel confident enough I might take it out unfinished for a walk in the woods towards the end of the season. If not I'll strip it all down and finish the stock over the winter and be ready for next season.
I already have plans to shotgun hunt SEPA along with everyone and there mother on Saturday. If I were to take it out this year I'd have to feel very confident in my shot placement. However I am looking forward to next year already!

Good for you soup for joining the ranks.
Hope you get out with the smoke pole.
It's a very relaxing time of the year to hunt.

Re: "Deer" season is NOT over!
My deer season IS the flintlock season. I have not even hunted the regular rifle season for the last 6-7 yrs. Come to think of it, in the last 25 yrs, I've only carried a regular rifle or handgun maybe 4 out of those years.
