Luzerne County Selling Guns and Other Weapons
http://timesleader.com/news/local/49...-other-weapons
The Luzerne County government is selling an extensive inventory of weapons seized in old protection-from-abuse cases: 125 rifles and shotguns, 50 handguns, 20 BB and pellet guns, 15 bows and 120 knives and other tools.
The sale, which has been in the works for more than a year, will generate revenue for the cash-strapped county, free up storage space and reduce liability, said county Sheriff Brian Szumski.
At least they're not sending everything off to a smelter.
The general public also will have an opportunity to view — not touch — the inventory from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Jan. 9 at the sheriff’s office in the courthouse if interested citizens submit personal information by Dec. 30 and pass background checks.

Re: Luzerne County Selling Guns and Other Weapons
The sale seems to be open only to PA FFL holders. Too bad, I might have taken a ride out there to check it out.

Re: Luzerne County Selling Guns and Other Weapons
If they are "old" pfa cases, why aren't they being returned to their rightful owners?

Re: Luzerne County Selling Guns and Other Weapons
That doesn't matter. The duty falls to law enforcement.
§6111.1(b)(4):(4) The Pennsylvania State Police and any local law enforcement agency shall make all reasonable efforts to determine the lawful owner of any firearm confiscated or recovered by the Pennsylvania State Police or any local law enforcement agency and return said firearm to its lawful owner if the owner is not otherwise prohibited from possessing the firearm. When a court of law has determined that the Pennsylvania State Police or any local law enforcement agency have failed to exercise the duty under this subsection, reasonable attorney fees shall be awarded to any lawful owner of said firearm who has sought judicial enforcement of this subsection.Get your "Guns Save Lives" stickers today!
